Hello friends and welcome to the last post on LyvRoxStyle for 2018!! We are in that period of complete brain mush. We don’t know what day it is, we aren’t sure when the last time we showered was, and possibly regretting putting up so much Christmas decor because now we gotta take it down. And now! Friends are asking what you’re doing for New Years?! I’ve taken my favorite bodysuit and styled it for three different New Years lewks.

Have you ever taken a picture and thought man I nailed that! Only to review the picture and see you look like a potato?! Welcome to the Potato Diaries. Yes even with a professional photographer, a full face of make-up and extra dry shampoo, I still manage to look like a dufuss in some pictures! (I do my own make-up BUT obviously I take little more time on it for shoot days.) Join me in laughing at my own expense!

Where did LyvRoxStyle come from? Where do I get inspiration for topics? Why did I take a break from LyvRoxStyle? What tools am I using to produce a more consistent and productive schedule? How do I decide where to draw the line with social media? What makes LyvRoxStyle different from the others? I’m discussing all of this today in honor of my 4-ish year anniversary!!

While it’s fun to be polished for special occasions. I tend to be unpolished in my everyday life. Tweed blazers make me feel well put together and sophisticated. HOWEVER, all of that quickly goes out the window when I start yelling at Alexa to play “Laffy Taffy”.

For me when I think of tweed I think of Chanel suits and a well polished woman. When I told Chris I was writing about tweed this week, he said he didn’t know what tweed was and I described it as a thicker woven fabric. Then my fashion nerd got the best of me and I researched on wikipedia the history of tweed. What a WEIRDO?! So look I’m sorry to disappoint you BUT this post will not be as funny as my ugly baby sweatshirt dress post. I can’t cuss at you every week that’s called abuse, ok?

Since we have taken a closer look at breaking the normal bow tie boundaries, let’s make our own boundaries. When I was thinking through how I would style my own personal versions of the Brackish bow tie I definitely wanted to use a good trouser and possibly a shirt dress.

This entire Brackish bow tie adventure began when I saw a picture of Blake Lively wearing one. And I thought, damnit she always gets it right!! To me she is the ultimate style icon for my generation. She wears a lot of menswear and makes it incredibly stylish and sexy. The MOST important part, is she makes it seem effortless.

After a long love affair with joggers I have come to the conclusion they are the mullet of the fashion industry… ready for business and ready to party. I wanted to take a look back at a blog I wrote about joggers in September of 2015. I discussed a pair of $10 joggers I had found from the Dollar General. This was a glimpse at how I was dipping my toe into the jogger world. I guess we could say today is a look at how I’m still cruising the jogger lap lane after three years.

One character trait that Chris and I share is the “go big or go home” mindset. If we are going to do something we gotta do it ALL THE WAY UP. So I’ve put together my favorite Halloween lewks we have executed in the past with our friends. Hopefully this will provide inspiration if you’re still wanting to partake in festivities this year and aren’t sure where to begin. And, in case you were wondering when we were going to grow up and not dress up, this post will answer that for you.

If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m a bit of a fashion chameleon. I dress the part for whatever the current fashion environment or event calls for. I love a good double breasted tweed blazer and pumps, but I can also wear a bra as a shirt if I need to. Ummm, Lyv that is called being skanky, nooo that’s called being overdressed in South Beach.

If you’ve stuck it out with me on this denim jacket journey I cannot thank you enough. I typically do not post this many times within a week. When I got this series of shots back from my photographer, Laura Fulmer, I really loved each look individually. So rather than overwhelm you with one giant post, I thought it’d be fun to give each look its own moment. I had never challenged myself to write that frequently and honestly it wasn’t so bad. For me clothes take me back to moments, to memories, the same as music or scents. 

Let’s talk about the distressed denim jacket. I wanted this lewk to be boho/hippie chic, so I styled it with a pair of Show Me Your Mumu flare pants and a vintage graphic t-shirt. Like everybody else I gather inspiration from other outfits I see online via Instagram, Pinterest, etc. I liked the look of a head scarf tied in this style on other people and thought it would be fitting for this vibe. Just like you, when I try new styles for the first time I feel a little lost and wonder how I can make them my own!

For the classic cut denim jacket I’m using a jacket I actually have had since high school. However, I wanted to style it with a look that is outside of my comfort zone. It’s actually not too wild of a look, but I have never successfully executed a denim on denim vibe. So let’s give this Canadian tuxedo a try!

As much as I wish we could snap our fingers and have the leaves and temperatures officially switched to Fall, we don’t have that option. So we must transition. And the best way to transition is with layers. And the best “IT” layering piece right now is your trusty ole’ denim jacket. I mean this betch is back and demanding respect in your outfit!!

I know this past Saturday was our first official day of Fall and we are enjoying ALL things pumpkin spice, but it’s hard to really get into that spirit when it’s still 90 degree. So just, back away from the sweaters and knee boots for a minute before you give yourself a heat stroke.

When we are in the Gameday tailgate atmosphere we have to compromise being sexy for basic survival. Love is a battle field and so is the porta potty in heels. Let’s take a look at Gameday attire in non-death environments that include air-conditioning and a functioning bathroom.

Up until I met my husband I didn’t give two shits about football. My family watched football when I was growing up and are die hard FSU fans. However, I think I just checked out or was in the kitchen trying to convince my mom I was going to be the person at OPI that named nail polish colors when I grew up.

MAN, it has been a minute!!! Some of you may remember the last time I wrote I had become lost in the clothes. Lost in the social media, lost in the feed and my intent had become muddy. I stepped away and spent a lot of time fishing and not wearing a bra.
