For the classic cut denim jacket I’m using a jacket I actually have had since high school. However, I wanted to style it with a look that is outside of my comfort zone. It’s actually not too wild of a look, but I have never successfully executed a denim on denim vibe. So let’s give this Canadian tuxedo a try!
But first, let’s pay respect to the most ICONIC denim on denim execution that has ever taken place.
Recreating this LEWK for Halloween with Chris is on the top of my bucket list. That, and getting arrested for hugging the drug dog at the airport. I just want to tackle it one day, giving it the best hug ever and whisper in it’s ear, “Tell your friends about me”. Do you think they’d use my mugshot in the gas station jail report newspaper?! Would they put “hugged drug dog” for my arresting charges?! Should I smile in the mugshot if I’m not ashamed of the hug?!
I just want to know what the dog smells like, do they use a special shampoo with oatmeal, do they rub drugs on the dog so he knows what the drugs smell like? Maybe it’s a cool shampoo I’ve never even heard about before, SO MANY QUESTIONS!!
Otis demands answers.
He also snuck into my shoot for the thousandth time. So we’ll get back to the denim on denim situation.
I didn’t want to match the denim colors exactly so I used a pair of jeans that were slightly a lighter wash.
I recently got these jeans from Zara and I love them. They have a high waist fit, they’re incredibly comfortable and don’t give me pancake butt. Pancake butt is a battle in high waisted jeans. They come in several different washes and colors! See the link below.
I wanted to keep the blues a cohesive vibe so I kept the tone on tone going with my hat and booties. However, I broke up the denim texture by using velvet on both of those accessories. The hat is by Brixton from Nordstrom. I have never worn this style hat before and it was a new avenue I had been wanting to try for fall. I love this brand of hats because the offer sizes and I have a huge head. So boom, size HUGE please.
I tied in the colors from the embellished booties with my belt.
I found the booties on SUPER sale at my local Fab’rik over the summer. Otis is really getting better than me at the photoshoot thing.
My classic cut denim jacket is from the Gap. I purchased it when I was in high school.
The Gap is pretty good at keeping classic denim styles in their product lineup, so I was actually able to find one that is exactly like it, with slightly different buttons.
I topped off the look with a dainty hoop from Baublebar.
Now we have successfully covered:
-The LEWK for Less
-The Classic Cut
We’ll move forward in our adventure of denim jackets to distressed in our next chat, so push your shoulders back and remember, being you rocks.
