So I have to be honest, my friend Tara and I came up for the idea for this blog in the bathroom at the bar. HA!! What else are we supposed to talk about while we wait in line?! How to wear CAMO, DUHHH! We both were saying how camo is everywhere but sometimes camo gets stuck in the casual, "redneck" stereotype. But it isn't "redneck" at all, it's very stylish right now! Additionally, let me state there is nothing wrong with being redneck, it's my roots.
I found the camo button down pictured above from Forever21. I know, I know!! I keep using pieces from Forever21 and I’m 30! BUT the pieces I have found lately have been great quality. The camo button down was $27.90, so thats a higher price point for Forever21, but it’s a great shirt. I’ve gotten a TON of use out of it and it hasn’t fallen apart. You have to be honest with yourself if something is $7.90 then you’re probably only going to get one wear out of it. Also, a quick tip, I shop the website, because the store overwhelms me, I’ll put a few things in my cart, wait a few days and sometimes I’ll get a 15% or 20% off email coupon for my order so then I’ll check out.
To add some glitz and glam for the look I paired a pink chiffon skirt from Festivity, a boutique here in Columbia and cinched the waist with a grey BCBG belt. I always look for belts with elastic backs because wide leather belts can really dig into your ribs if you’re eating or drinking. And I enjoy both of those things!! The beaded clutch adds a vintage feel and plays off the grey glitz in the belt which gives our overall look the sass we were looking for. The clutch is from Anthropology BUT I found it at Plato’s Closet with the tags still on it for like $20. I will say a bead or two falls out whenever I use it but it’s like I leave a little trail of glitter wherever I go. Also, this button down shirt is great with jeans, it's such an easy outfit and I usually pair it with a long necklace.
I LOVE this camo pencil skirt. It’s made from a stretchy knit material so it’s super comfortable and I think it was like $10 from HauteLook. During the summer I paired it with a simple black tank, booties and a rep lip. For Fall/Winter I thought it would be fun to play with the look by adding a tuxedo style jacket.
For the camo casual look a pant option is great with a t-shirt, sweat shirt or these sassy Keds. It’s still 80 degrees outside lately so whatever works!! Camo is the new black! Don’t let the print intimidate you or stump you in ways to style it. Camo pants and a denim button down is a great option. There are SO many ways to make it your own. So don’t be afraid to push your shoulders back and color it camo, because being you rocks!!!
