MAN, I have been dying to write about these shoes!!! They make me so happy, because my mom and I have a matching pair. We have an ongoing joke that when she is 80 years old I'm going to glue fake eye lashes on her and put her in gold Keds. Allow me to delight you with how I envision this process going down.
Back in August we spent a few endless days at the hospital with my Grandfather, who is now doing great. No worries, this is NOT another sad story! But what do you do at the hospital?! ONLINE SHOP!!! When we received the good news that we had hoped for I decided we should celebrate by getting mom her official gold Keds. So I typed “gold Keds” in Google and the search results were a SIGN from above.
KATE SPADE DID A COLLABORATION WITH KEDS!!!! And there was a GOLD pair! And they were/are the SHIT!! I literally had a mouthful of a Zaxby’s chicken finger and before I could even dip my finger back in that delicious Zax sauce I had added two pair to the cart and hit purchase. BOOM! Never had a purchase felt so right. Zaxby’s and online shopping, it was a glorious moment. Then all of the sudden my mom goes, “What the HELL am I going to wear those with?!”. WHAT ARE NOT GOING TO WEAR THIS WITH DONNA?! But seriously, we all do that, get excited for a purchase outside of our comfort zone and then freeze when it comes time to actually wearing it. So let’s take a look at how I styled these gold glitter kickers and maybe you think of something that you’ve been stuck styling as well.
Jeans and a t-shirt go with everything! For this look I paired Hudson jeans I purchased during a HauteLook sale with a $12 t-shrt from Forever21. Just a basic white tee would be great too but I went with a graphic tee. I also paired this fringe cross-body purse. Don't be afraid to mix trends. Sparkle and fringe are hot in the streets. If that's what you're feeling that day then WERK it out. Because the fringe purse was a nice neutral tan I didn't feel like it was competing with the sparkle of the shoes.
Ok, now let’s get sassy and push the boundaries. What if we went sparkle on sparkle with camo?! YASSSS! I am obsessed with camo and it’s actually my next blog thanks to my good friend Tara. I treat camo as a neutral pattern. In my own mind when I purchased these shoes, this type of outfit is how I envisioned myself wearing them. The sweatshirt is from Forever21, and the pants I found randomly on sale at The Rack for $15 last year but camo is everywhere right now!
This skirt is from Random Boutique, no really that's the name of the boutique. Here is a link to their Instagram. The skirt is fun and definitely plays off the vibe of the shoes. I went with a basic denim button down so it wasn't competing with the trends of the skirt and shoes. On another note, I bought this skirt with a black lace crop and style it with black booties for a TOTALLY different look. I actually used it on my friend Beth for one of her shoots.
When we were shooting this last look with the skirt outside, I had a girl who was driving by, stopped her car and yelled, I AM LOVING THAT OUTFIT. And man, I SO appreciated that. When I see other women who are working their vibe I love to compliment them. You never know what a difference it makes to that person on that day. So push your shoulders and if you see someone rockin in the streets show them some love, because being you rocks.

And here is my mom who styled this look with her gold glitter Keds all on her own. Donna is the shit and my best friend. More often than not our conversations involve the middle finger emoji and it's my favorite thing about her. You go Donna.
