For me when I think of tweed I think of Chanel suits and a well polished woman.
When I told Chris I was writing about tweed this week, he said he didn’t know what tweed was and I described it as a thicker woven fabric. Then my fashion nerd got the best of me and I researched on wikipedia the history of tweed. What a WEIRDO?!
So look I’m sorry to disappoint you BUT this post will not be as funny as my ugly baby sweatshirt dress post. I can’t cuss at you every week that’s called abuse, ok?
Tweeds were traditionally used as Scottish and Irish clothing.
They were mostly used for outerwear because of the fabrics ability to combat harsh climates. So guess what?! These jackets are ready to fight the battle of all your Holiday events!
Real quick, a few things! Before we move on to the jackets…
1. I am obsessed with all things greek key and they are Joy Nelson approved items I’m “allowed” to like. This glass I’m holding is a prized possession. I found a set of them at Home Goods on a whim one day, check your local Home Goods!
2. I have 80 year old knuckles.
3. This shoot was done in our dining room which was designed by none other than the one and ONLY, Joy Nelson. Joy is an interior designer, a dear friend, a soul sister, a partner in crime and one day I promise to gather all the pics from each area of our house with before and after pics for a post!
I’ll provide a link to her Instagram where you can see her vast portfolio of talent and beauty.
This checkered tweed blazer is from Zara.
It hit me in all my current soft spots for a good blazer. I was drawn to the double breasted buttons, the 90s inspired plaid and the FIT.
Zara blazers are incredibly well tailored. The price points are usually around $100 BUT the quality of the fabric, the durability and fit of the jacket make it worth that price point.
In the checkered blazer I am wearing a size small.
I have ordered an XS before and those fit as well, however it’s a much slimmer fit and I usually can’t button those closed.
I purposely only switched out my blazer for these looks because I wanted you to see how easy a Holiday outfit can be with the right blazer or jacket.
This white tweed blazer I got from Zara at the end of season LAST winter on sale. They only had XS left so I took a chance and it fits, however as I previously mentioned I can’t button this one because it’s too tight across my shoulders.
I like for some of my blazers to lay open like you see here so that’s why this smaller size worked for me.
If you go back and look at the checkered blazer it’s more loose in the front. I purposely went a smidge bigger in case I layered thicker sweaters under it during the winter.
I personally believe white blazers are seasonless and can be worn any time of year.
I have a bodysuit from Forever21 layered under the jacket with high-waisted dark wash jeans.
I’m going to link a different bodysuit though because this one is dangerous and it’s like playing Russian roulette with your nipples and we’re trying to be classy for the Holidays.
Despite I sometimes wear a bra as a shirt I still love and enjoy dressing conservatively.
In those moments where I do wear risqué outfits typically Chris and I are on vacation and somewhere out of town. But that’s what marriage is, being able to dress sexy for your husband and try different looks you might not wear to Zesto’s for a dipped ice cream cone.
P.S.
I look snobby as hell in this picture and it makes me laugh so much. Like I just walked straight out of a Grey Poupon commercial.
Less is more for our Holiday LEWKS!
And it wouldn’t be a proper send off without a doggy photobomb.
Tweed blazers are Jax and Otis approved for your Holiday season.
And remember this fabric is ready to fight all your party battles!
So push your shoulders back and silently demand the attention of a room because that feeling rocks.
Until next time!
