While it’s fun to be polished for special occasions. I tend to be unpolished in my everyday life.
Tweed blazers make me feel well put together and sophisticated.
HOWEVER, all of that quickly goes out the window when I start yelling at Alexa to play “Laffy Taffy”.
New Years Day of this year my girlfriends and I sat on our porch having mimosas yelling whatever demands we could think of at Alexa.
It went something like this…ALEXXAAAAAAA!!
Play Africa by Toto!
ALEXXAAAAAA!!!
Bring me a blanket!
ALEXXXAAAA!!!
What are fruit snacks made of?!
ALEXXXXXAAAAA!!
Get us a drank!
ALEXXXAAAAAAAA!!!
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE IN MY HOUSE?!
ALLEEXAAAAAAA!!!!!!
How old is Kenny Lee?!
ALLLLEEEEXXXAXAAAAA!
Who killed JonBenet Ramsey?!
ALLEXXXAAAAAA!!!
Is it still today?!
We realized that Alexa is basically just like your husband and eventually ignores you and does NONE of what you asked!
I’m pretty sure our entire conversation was recorded and we’re on some sort of watch list now. I’m just waiting for the day TSA pulls me to the side at the airport…Is this about the porch?! Shit, we knew you were listening!
What’s your favorite thing to yell at Alexa?
This is not my ACTUAL porch but this IS how I’m styling tweed for casual everyday vibes.
I want to go over each item I’ve used to style this because guess what, we’ve discussed them all recently!!
I purchased the skirt from the Lexington Fab’rik location.
As you can see I’m really jumping onto the small sunglasses trend…SIKEEE. That trend was just not for me and maybe you feel the same about some current trends, and that’s ok!
My Kesha t-shirt is giving us those vintage shirt vibes we have previously discussed. I chose this shirt because it was black and the larger portion of the skirt is black. I went with statement earrings that would accent the pop of colors in the Kesha logo on the shirt. I chose a mesh sock to pair with my boots that just barely peek out of the top of the shoe.
My thought process when I was styling this outfit begin with the skirt.
I accessorized with current trends I’m into around the pattern of the tweed. I love black and white because any type of pattern or texture is easier to work with in those tones.
The bag pictured is my everyday purse, it’s the Gucci quilted bookbag. I got it last year as my Christmas present and having a bookbag changed my shoulder’s life! Typically, when I’m running into a store I just carry my phone because my phone case has my ID and debit cards in it. The bookbag trend was a look I happily embraced in 2018!
This season Gucci added velvet versions, which are gorgeous, mine is the leather finish.
You may have some tweed pieces in your closet that you can pull out and reinvent!
Just whatever you do don’t ask Alexa for help because that betch is fake news!
Stay tuned for next week! I’ll be releasing the Potato Diaries and some other special stuff to celebrate the creation of LyvRoxStyle 4 years ago!
Also, in December I’ll be going over gift giving ideas to help NOT make Christmas expensive AF!!!
Until then, push your shoulders back and keep your chin up, because being you rocks.
