It was pajama week on LyvRoxStyle last week!
I had a contest with three silk “inspired” pajama tops and one was actually my pjs! It’s the black top I’m wearing here, it has matching shorts from Victoria’s Secret.
I had three people guess correctly and then I put their names in a hat and drew the winner from there. Dana Hall won the $25 Sephora gift card!!! Yay, Dana!
Now I’ll tell you where the shirts came from that aren’t my pajamas!
Women’s silk “inspired” pajama tops have been a growing trend in the streets!
To be honest, I can’t tell which tops are to be worn everyday and which we’re supposed to be sleeping in!
This is why I thought it’d be fun to have contest!
But hey, if I can roll outta bed and put some jeans on and not manage to change my shirt I’m all for that!
How would anyone know you didn’t change your shirt?!
I actually had an idea to do a blog post where I kept buying clothes from the pajama section at Target and wearing them out until I wasn’t allowed into the club because I was in my pajamas.
First, we don’t frequent “clubs” that often anymore and I don’t think I would ever get turned away for not being up to dress code! Lace slip dresses are a thing again in addition to this silk pajama top vibe so it’s pajama day errrryday in the streets!
Now that I’m thinking about it I actually decided I needed to do better in the pajama department after Christmas “Pajama Day” at the school our dear friend works at in Charlotte.
Kristin works in a high needs school program. She created a Christmas gift program on her own first grade class, because they were like her family and she wanted to make sure they experienced the joy and love of Christmas. The children receive coats and necessities on top of wish list items. Once people saw how wonderful this program was and how much joy it blessed the children’s heart with it grew to encompass all grade levels!!
It is Chris and I’s favorite Christmas tradition to sponsor a few kids and go shopping as a family for them.
They bring all the little kiddos into the gym with giant bags and tell them Santa has come and they lose their mind.
It’s a tremendous blessing to watch their faces light up. WELL, the first year I went to help with the gift handing out process, (of course the kids think Santa provided all the gifts) Kristin was like, “yeah girl, it’s pajama day!!”. Naturally I was like WORD and went and purchased a pajama giraffe onesie.
When I got to the school that day and saw the other volunteers (young professionals in Charlotte) I realized, I was the ONLY ADULT IN PAJAMAS!!!
And it was a giraffe onesie at that!! Apparently pajama day was just for the kids.
WHY AM I LIKE THIS?!
Even my silliest best guy friend Scott was in a suit and glasses. I couldn’t even look him in the face. I love being around ANY of my friends in work environments because you know what disasters they’re capable of being and I just enjoy that. Business Scott really cracks me up (Kristin’s husband). SO, it kind of became a tradition that I wear the giraffe onesie for the gift hand out at the school.
We all know a giraffe is my spirit animal anyway so it’s just like the norm to see me in my natural habitat.
However, I did learn a lesson on the pajama front!
I got a silk set (this is the top shown) that now I can just pass off as real clothes in case I get mixed up on my pajama day schedule you know?
Shits hard to keep up with.
When I began the process of finding pajama “inspired” tops to link to the blog for you to shop, I got confused myself on which were not the real jammies!!
I found this top at the Scotch & Soda boutique in Charleston, SC on King St.
It actually is where the BCBG I used to work at lives now. And me being the ultimate nerd I am, I walked in to tell them, “THIS USED TO BE BCBG BUT ITS SCOTCH & SODA NOW!”
I’m such a dufuss.
I was drawn to the print of this shirt because it seemed like an odd color combination that I didn’t have in my closet.
There was a very small amount of white in the print, which I thought would be a great reason to style the pajama top with a pair of white jeans.
The shoes I am wearing were a fun find at a vintage store in San Diego, CA. They’re 2008 Prada and have a cool metallic trim up the front. I wanted to highlight and compliment that with another pop of metallic with the braided belt.
I really love how the color flow of this vibe worked out. Sometimes an outfit comes together effortlessly for me and other times I’m searching forever for the right combo! We all struggle in da streets of style from time to time!
When I styled this Forever21 “inspired” pajama top I wanted to make the blue in the print popped.
So again, I styled my bright cobalt blue boots to keep the color cohesive. I think if I had to chose a pair of boots in my closet these are my favorite.
I’ve linked some fun tops below with vibrant prints that would be stylish with a solid boot or bootie!
So keep your friends guessing if you’re wearing your pajamas or not!
Are you being stylish or wearing the clothes you slept in?! I’ll never tell…
Keep your chin up and silently demand the attention of the room…
Because that feeling ROX.
Until next time!
